Six GTSs planned for Karachi

Karachi: Sindh Solid Waste Management (SSWMB) Board has decided to establish six new Garbage Transfer Stations in different districts of Karachi.

Managing Director Roshan Ali Sheikh told a meeting that every station will cover seven to eight acres of land. He said the board is taking steps to provide better environment to the city regarding safe disposal of solid and to recycle it to generate revenue.

The proposed GTSs will be established near Malir Nullah in Korangi, besides Meva Shah Graveyard, near Lyari Expressway in Sharafi Goth, Suhrab Goth, Essa Nagri and near Safoora Goth.

However, the surrounding areas will not be affected as all these stations will be completely covered and the staff will work wearing protective uniforms.
