KARACHI: Sindh Madressatul Islam University Karachi is organizing SMIU SPRING FESTIVAL 2015, from Tuesday April 7, 2015 to Thursday April 9, 2015 in its premises. The Student Clubs and Societies of the university have arranged variety of events for three days of the festival.
Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh, Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University will inaugurate the festival by cutting ribbon on Tuesday, April 7, at 10.00 am. Then Urdu Mushaira will be held at Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium at 11.00 that will continue up to 1.00 pm. Urdu debate will follow it, which will continue from 1:15pm to 3:15 pm. Then presentation on Islamic history and mosques of the world will held at 3:15 pm to 4: 15 pm at the same auditorium.
On the second day of the festival (Wednesday, April 8), Special Children Programme will be organized at 9:15 am to 10:30 pm; Theatre from 11:30 to 1:00 pm; Trilingual Declamation Contest (in English, Urdu & Sindhi) from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and Musical Moments will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the auditorium of the university.
On the last day of the event (Thursday, April 9), Singing Competition will be held amongst the students of the university from 10:00 am to 11:00 am; Acting Competition amongst the students from 11:00 am to 12 noon and movie show: “Children from Heaven” from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. Media workshop has also been arranged at Seminar Library on Thursday. Cricket, football and tug of war tournaments have also been arranged, together with 100 meter race among students of various departments.
In this regard, the students clubs and societies of the University have chalked out a comprehensive programme including exhibition of painting, food stalls, games, book stalls, Mehndi stalls etc, while there will be 3-day Computer Games Competition also.
On the last day Shields and Certificates Distribution Ceremony will be held from at 3.00 pm at Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium, which will be presided over by Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh, Vice Chancellor SMIU.
Students of the university have been allowed to bring their families with them during the festival days (7-9 April 2015); however female members will be mandatory.
