SOAA holds protest against KMC

KARACHI: Sindh Outdoor Advertisers Association (SOAA) held a demonstration against Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for its alleged corruption and unfair policy, outside of Karachi Press Club on Thursday.

The protesting traders were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against KMC.

The protesters chanted slogans against the KMC and criticized it for corruption and harassment of advertisers.

Before protest SOAA leader Sajjad Hyder, Rahat Mohammad Ali, Sabir Ali and others held a press conference and accused KMC director and his team of corruption.

Hyder said that KMC employees have launched their advertising companies and they are doing the business of advertising without taxpaying to the KMC. They use dirty tactics to destroy business of legal advertising companies.

He alleged, KMC’ staff are involved in bribery and removing such bill boards, hoardings and other advertising tools whose owners do not pay bribe.

They demanded audit of local tax department. A committee should be formed for coordination of outdoor advertising industry and authority, the also demanded.
