Karachi: Sindh Tenpin Bowling Association (STBA) is organizing Virtual Axis Pakistan Open Tenpin Bowling Tournament from November 28 to 30 here at Hotshot Arena.
The events to be competed in the tournament are professional singles open, amateur singles, women singles, novice (beginners), doubles event and four-men team event.
The last date of entry in the tournament is November 27. All Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF) rules and regulation will apply. The tournament offers Rs 300,000 cash prizes.
“More than 200 players will be seen in action while over fifty female players have also confirmed their participation,” PTBF Joint Secretary Romis Ali told media on Tuesday.
He added that the game of bowling is getting popular in Pakistan and events such this with huge participation is its clear proof.
He added that if government of Pakistan step forward and give a helping hand to PTBF then there are high chances that our bowlers get trained well and give top performances in the international arena.
“Our bowlers, who learnt without much help and proper infrastructure, give good showings in international events and if we give them proper world class training and infrastructure then they could certainly impressive at the world stage,” he said.
He added PTBF has only asked for piece of land in different districts of the country to establish alleys to make it easier for common people to play bowling, which otherwise is an expensive sport.
Meanwhile, one of Pakistan’s top bowler and PTBF Vice President Aleem Agha also reiterated that government involvement is necessary to promote this sport and PTBF could not do that alone.
Meanwhile, Virtual Axis CEO Khawaja Ahmed Mustaqeem was also present on the occasion and he vowed to support the game bowling in future as well.
“The game of bowling is one of the top emerging sports in Pakistan and we do our best to support this game,” he said.
