Karachi: Afghanistan’s Najibullah Zadran played an impressive and unconquered 60-run knock off only 32 balls to help Afghanistan ‘A’ stun Pakistan ‘A’ comprehensively by 54 runs in a 15-over match at Shalimar Ground in Islamabad on Saturday.
Afghanistan ‘A’ batted first in the match, which initially was to be a T20 encounter, and put on board 154-4 in 15 overs. Najibullah smashed four boundaries and as many sixes in his brilliant inning while Samiullah Shinwari also smashed three sixes and a boundary to score unbeaten 27 off only 14 balls.
Pakistani pacer Umar Gul, who is looking to make a comeback in the international circuit, failed to impress after conceding 30 runs in three overs without any victims. Raza Hasan bowled well capturing a wicket and conceding only 11 runs in two overs.
Mohammad Irfan managed to pull one wicket conceding 23 runs off three overs. Anwar Ali was also expensive giving away 31 runs in three overs but managed to take one wicket.
Chasing the competitive total, Pakistan ‘A’ lacked luster and never looked in chase run of the total eventually scoring a paltry total of 100-9 in 15 overs. Only Babar Azam put some resistance scoring 30 of 25 balls.
Skipper Mohammad Nabi, Gulbudeen Naib and Aftab Alam captured two wickets each. Fareed Ahmed and Mohammad Nasim Baras took one wicket each.
