Karachi: The ninth edition of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah National Women Cricket Championship will be commencing tomorrow (Saturday) in Islamabad.
Twelve regional teams will be participating in this championship. In qualification round, six regional teams will compete. The teams are divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group will qualify to play in the final round.
Six regional teams have already qualified last year for the final round. The final round is also divided into two groups and the top teams of each group will qualify to play in the final. The bottom two teams, which are to be ranked 7th and 8th in the final round, will have to play in the qualification round next year.
In qualification round, Group A consists of Quetta, Faisalabad and Hyderabad while Abbottabad, Peshawar and Bahawalpur constitute Group B. The round will begin with a match between Quetta and Faisalabad teams on Saturday, May 17.
Meanwhile, Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Islamabad and Sialkot have already been placed in the final round. The final round matches will begin from May 24 with a match between Karachi and Rawalpindi teams. The summit clash of the tournament will be played on May 30 at Diamond Cricket Ground.
