ISLAMABAD: Former Test Cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz on Sunday urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to make Mohammad Hafeez the captain of the One Day side saying currently the all-rounder suits best to lead the team.
Former skipper Misbah-ul-Haq had announced his retirement prior to the World Cup 2015. There are four names floating for the position of captain including Sarfraz Ahmed, Azhar Ali, Sohaib Maqsood and Wahab Raiz.
In interview, Sarfraz said that at this crucial time Hafeez is the right and best choice to lead the team. “Hafeez has already captained the Twenty-20 side and he has the skill to lead the ODI side as well,” Sarfraz said. He said wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed should be given the responsibility of vice-captain.
He said Sarfraz should be groomed as VC and then he can replace Hafeez in future when the time comes. Sarfraz said Mohsin Hassan Khan is the right pick to be the chairman selection committee.
Sarfraz asked the PCB to allot new coaches for the team as we have seen the performance of the current ones in the World Cup.
