Sports: Swimming: National swimming championships begin today

Karachi: The National Men and Women’s Open Swimming Championships begins today (Friday) at Pakistan Sports Board Swimming Pool Complex in Islamabad.

All affiliated units of the Pakistan Swimming Federation (PSF), which are Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Baluchistan, Islamabad, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, Army, Navy, PAF, WAPDA, HEC and Railway will participate in the Championship.

A total of 19 events will be contested during the championship. Army is the defending champion.

The event will also serve as open trials for several upcoming international competitions. Those events are Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympic Games, Asian Games, FINA World Championships and South Asian Games.
