SU providing higher education at door steps: VC

JAMSHORO: The Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, Prof. Dr. Abida Taherani, announced on Wednesday that academic block of the Khan Bahadur Syed Allahando Shah Naushehroferoze Campus of the university would be constructed and Sindh government had approved Rs 50 million for it.

This she said while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony at the Campus. The ceremony was attended by Syed Zafar Ali Shah who is grandson of Khan Bahadur Syed Allahando Shah, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Deans of the Faculties, heads of different departments, members of the Syndicate, students and faculty members of the Campus.

The Vice Chancellor said that students exchange programs for one semester course would be initiated between the students of different campuses so that they could exchange their experiences. She appreciated and thanked Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah for approving Rs 50 million for Naushehro Feroz Campus and said that vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for education at door steps had been carried out by the university by opening of the campuses at the far-flung areas of the province.

She announced that soon, department of law would be established at this campus to facilitate students to pursue law education at their door steps. She said that presently, this campus is offering BS degree programs in Information Technology, Computer Science, BBA, BS English and MBA degree programs.

Dr. Taherani said that campuses of the university would be more facilitated in terms of the equipments, furniture as well as well qualified faculty there. She lauded services of Syed Allahando Shah for education of common men specially girls of the Sindh province and also thanked his family for donation of piece of land in main city of Naushero Feroz for the construction of the campus building.

She advised the students to be a role model by persuading education and contribute for the community service and their parents as well. Syed Zafar Ali Shah highlighted educational services rendered by the people of the area for promotion of education in Sindh. He expressed great concern over the state of primary education offering at the Government run schools and stressed the need for the improvement of the quality of education at school level.

He said that it was great opportunity for the youth of the Naushehro Feroz and its shrouding that the University of Sindh had established its Campus here to provide higher education. He said that the University of Sindh had produced a number of personalities of high calibre who served the society. He said that society must strive hard for the improvement of education so that quality of youth produced to render their services for the betterment of humanity.

Mohammad Nawaz Narejo Pro-Vice Chancellor Naushehro Feroz Campus of the University speaking on the occasion said that presently 450 students were enrolled in five disciplines. He said that the campus had initiated with leading disciplines and also arranging the co-curricular activities for the promotion of skills among the students.

He thanked the community for extending their cooperation in establishment of the Campus, specially Syed Zafar Ali Shah and faculty members of the Campus.
