Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 9% Pakistanis said they have seen jinn; 2% claimed they have seen fairies.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “Please tell us, have you ever seen any of the following?” In response to this question, 9% respondents said they have seen jinn, while 85% said they have not and 6% did not respond. Regarding ghosts, 2% respondents said they have seen them, while 89% have not and 9% did not respond.
Regarding witches, 4% respondents said they have seen them, while 88% have not and 8% did not respond. Regarding fairies, 2% respondents said they have seen them, while 90% have not and 8% did not respond.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1374 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during January 26 – February 2, 2015. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
