KARACHI: An Anti-terrorism court-I (ATC-I) remanded an accused, Piyaru Khan, to police custody till 2 November 2014 in kidnapping for ransom case.
Police produced the accused before the ATC-I judge under tight security.
Investigation officer requested the court to allow the physical remand of the accused as the police wanted to investigate him further so that the whereabouts of their absconding accomplices, Abid, Mithal, Lakhu, Fareed and Qurban could be known and they could be arrested. The court accepted the police request and remanded the accused to police custody till 2 November.
According to the prosecution, the accused was involved in kidnapping of Ashique and demanding ransom of Rs 10 million for his safe release on 30th August 2014 within the jurisdiction of Model Colony police station.
The case FIR 132/2014 was registered under Section 365-A (kidnapping for extorting property) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Model Colony police station.
