Suspects remanded to police in explosive material case

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court-I (ATC-I) on Thursday remanded two accused Nomam Ateeq Siddiqui and Munawwar Hussain to police custody for three and four days respectively in an explosive material case.

Police produced both accused before ATC-I judge under tight security. Investigation officer requested the court that police needed their investigation and physical custody to trace their connections and other accomplices in the crime. The court accepted the police request and remanded the accused to police custody.

According to prosecution, both the accused were arrested on 5 November 2014 within the jurisdiction of Awami Colony police Station. Police claimed to have recovered hand grenades from the accused possession.

The case FIR 396/2014 and 397/2014 were lodged under Section 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act at the Awami Colony police Station.
