Karachi: Karachi Vocational Training Centre for Intellectually Challenged (KVTC) organized first of its kind Disability Expo at Expo Centre Karachi. This event marked the opening of the disability week, celebrating the international day of disability which is on the 3rd of December 2015.
Consul General of Switzerland in Karachi Emil Wyss, Sindh Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Senator Haseeb Khan paid special visit to Expo centre Karachi and appreciated the skills and talent of handicapped people.
KVTC carries out many Training and Development activities that include vocational therapy, occupational therapy, confidence- building, basic education, and skills training. Over 500 graduated trainees are currently employed in various jobs all over the city working efficiently and earning incomes just as any normal person.
KVTC team is committed to integrating intellectually disabled individuals into the mainstream society of Pakistan. Since 1991, KVTC has been innovating and working diligently with intellectually disabled by developing customized approach for their rehabilitation. KVTC’s core philosophy places its trainees at the centre, based on which individualized curriculums are developed.
The Expo provided a sense of inclusion for people with disabilities to be part of the event with mainstream public without sympathy, restrictions or limitations of any kind.
The skills and talent of disabled people presented while a number of other activities will be arranged including talent shows, sporting activities, arts and vocational skills, taekwondo championship, musical performances and more.
Zohair Naseer, COO Badar Expo Solutions also said that KVTC students have proved that they can do best in any field and students who are working in different organizations are full of potential.
