Karachi: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) lawmaker Monday told the Sindh assembly that doctors are closing clinics in Orangi due to rampant lawlessness and target killngs.
MPA Muhammad Hussain Khan in his call attention notice said that the operation cleanup against terrorists, target killers and other criminals in going on in Karachi. He said during the operation various innocent workers and sympathizers of MQM and police personnel were being killed, especially in Orangi, Qasba, Ali Garh and Nazimabad.
The lawmaker said that people have started migration from these areas. He said due to the target killings of professional, especially doctors, performance of hospitals including Qatar Government Hospital is badly affected. He said doctors are closing their clinics in Orangi due to fear of being killed. He asked the government to take notice of this sad situation.
However, Sindh minister for parliamentary affairs Sikandar Mandhro said there is no any operation clean up in Karachi but instead a targeted operation is continued against terrorists and criminals. He presented the year-wise figures of MQM sympathizers and the police men martyred in Orangi, Qasba, Ali Garh and Nazimabad. He said there is a law and order problem in Karachi. He, however, said the government is taking all-out efforts to ensure in peace in whole Karachi including these areas.
