Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism, Sports, Archaeology, Museums and Youth Affairs Department on Wednesday organised an award giving ceremony in honour of prominent personalities to acknowledge their outstanding performance in various fields of life.
The ceremony was held at Sethi House here, which was attended by Advisor to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Tourism, Sports, Archaeology, Museums and Youth Affairs Department Amjad Afridi, Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) Managing Director Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, General Manager (Events) Mohammad Ali Syed besides a large number of artistes, players, educationists and others.
Awards were given to the four legendaries, including Pride of Performance Award-winning Principal of Pakistan College of Arts Tayyaba Aziz, television artiste late Salahuddin, Hockey Olympian Qazi Salahuddin and photographer Fakhar Zaman Azhar (Uncle Toni).
Speaking on the occasion, MD TCKP Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said that the KP Tourism Department would launch new projects to promote tourism activities to present a soft image of the country on national and international levels.
He said the Advisor to CM on Tourism and Sports Amjad Afridi had taken various steps for improving performance of the department, which have started yielding positive results.
Advisor to CM on Tourism and Sports Amjad Afridi said that today’s ceremony was a proof to the fact that the provincial government did not ignore the outstanding personalities including players, artistes, educationists and others.
He said the services of all the legendaries would be acknowledged by giving awards and other facilities for the excellence performance in their respective fields.
Chief guest Iftikharuddin, Jamil Khan and others threw light on the life and services of late Salahuddin, who recently passed away. His award was presented to his son Nawazuddin.
Amjad Afridi gave away awards to Hockey Olympian Qazi Salahuddin, Fakhar Zaman Azhar (Uncle Toni) and Tayyaba Aziz.
