Teachers protest against corruption in education dept

KARACHI: All Sindh Primary Teachers Association (ASPTA) Karachi Division chapter demanded to remove Director Education Abdul Wahab Abbasi and District Education Officer (DEO) Karachi division Qurban Ali Dahar, alleging them responsible for corruption and nepotism in the education sector.

They were holding a protest demonstration on Wednesday outside the Karachi Press Club, carrying placards and banner, raising slogans against the corrupt education officers.

Addressing the protestors, senior teacher leader Intizar Hussain Chalgari claimed that these officers had broken all the previous records of bribery. He alleged that the director education Abdul Wahab Abbasi had been notorious for his corruption and nepotism.

Announcing to run a protest movement against the corrupt officer from district Malir, he said the teachers of Malir are hit hard ‘due to corruption of these officers, who had appointed their agents appointed in Malir to collect bribery’.

Mohammad Ameen Narejo said the candidates who had passed Sindh University test in 2011, were still deprived from their salaries in Karachi division and they are asked to pay bribes to get resolved their issues. He said the demands of the teachers regarding time scale, teaching allowance could not be resolved as yet.

They appealed to PPP head Asif Ali Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Shah, Education Minister Nisar Khuhro and Secretary Education to remove the corrupt officers and appoint honest officers to clean the blemish of corruption from the face of Sindh education department.
