Tennis trials ahead of South Asian Games begins today

Karachi: Trials to select men and women tennis teams for South Asian Games, which will be held in Guwahati (India) next year, begins today (Monday) in Islamabad.

For men’s team, Aqeel Khan and Aisamul Haq Qureshi are exempted from trials. Meanwhile, other top six national ranked players are expected to report to Inamul Haq on Monday. For women trials, top six national ranked players are invited.

Four male and female players will finally be selected to represent Pakistan in the Games.

Rashid Malik is named as Coach of the national men’s team. He will also coach both men and women teams in Lahore from January 1, 2016.

Meanwhile, the trials to select three-member boys 16 and under team for Junior Davis Cup will also begin on Monday at S. Dilawar Abbas, PTF Tennis Complex.

Mohammad Khalid Siddique is the captain and coach of the team. Players will report to him on Monday at the venue of trials.

The Junior Davis Cup competition will be held in Sri Lanka from February 29 to March 6, 2016.
