KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Information, Archives and Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Monday that the terrorists involved in target killing turned to be the employees of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) when arrested.
This he said while addressing the Sindh Assembly session here on Monday. He said that in violation of rules and regulations, recruitment were made in KMC and KWSB and today both the bodies are over staffed.
Memon further said, “I request my MQM friends not to talk irresponsibly. We would not allow the conspiracy to create differences among people of Sindh.”
He said: “All the people living in Karachi are our brothers. We never identify them with language they speak but we consider them as our brethren.”
The minister said that PPP Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari while addressing a mammoth public meeting at Mazar-i-Quaid reiterated reconciliation policy of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and invited all political forces to come over to work together in the national interest.
He urged everyone to respect each other’s political leadership. “We would not tolerate harsh language against PPP leadership,” he vowed.
Talking about Syed Khursheed Shah, Memon said he had clarified his statement on the same day. Quoting Khursheed Shah, he said he termed himself as a Mohajir and also tendered apology but those who used insulting language and said Sindhi were licking the shoes of Hindus and also went on saying dance parties were held in every home in Punjab and statements were also issued against Pak Army but they had no moral courage to tender apologies.
Talking about targeted operation in Karachi, Sharjeel said that the PPP government did not compromise and would continue irrespective of political discrimination.
He lauded the efforts of law enforcing agencies for launching a most effective targeted operation in the province which has yielded tangible results. They resolved the murder cases of journalist Wali Baber and PTI leader Zahra Shahid. “We are proud of them,” he concluded.
He invited MQM friends to brush aside unnecessary differences and come over to work together.
