Thalassaemia Prevention Bill must be implemented: Dr Rahat

KARACHI: A workshop on “Thalassaemia Awareness & Importance and Benefits of Blood Donation“ was organized in Omair Sana Thalassaemia Centre in collaboration with Future Helping Hand. Dr Rahat, Manager, Thalassaemia awareness, blood donation drive and expert in human psychology, lectured at workshop. Sameed, Imtiaz Malik and others guests were also present at this event.

A large number of students from Karachi University, Hamdard University, NED University & Princeton University attended the event. Dr Rahat said that Thalassaemia is genetic disorder that transmits from parents to their children.

All members of the family should screen themselves in order to identify whether the family possesses that genes. He said that the basic reason of its prevalence is marriage in family that’s important to test the candidate before marriage. He said the intensity of the growth is deplorable.
