Three burnt kids die in CMCH Larkana

LARKANA: Three burnt kids died in Paeds Surgery Ward of the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Larkana due to non-availability of Burns Ward. The victims were Mehrab, 5, resident of Thari Mirwah; Anees, 5, Larkana; Rabail, aged 01, Larkana.

Eleven patients left against medical advise (LAMA), One patient’s attendants left with the patient leaving behind the case sheet of the hospital. Another patient was referred to Karachi and 14 were treated in the same ward who had minor burn injuries. Prof Sikandar Ali Mughal, Head, Department of Paeds Surgery told reporters on Sunday that he had not been informed about the working of the CMCH Burns Ward and due to this reason, they continued to treat burns patients in our ward, adding that burns centre is most vital where burn patients’ lives are saved through proper treatment by trained doctors and technicians including plastic surgeon.

He said it must be run on round the clock basis for the benefit of the patients. However. Dr. Ali Gohar Chandio has been appointed by CMCH Dr Muneer Jokhio, as morning shift incharge of the Burns Centre.

The authorities of Chandka Medical College of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana, have so far failed to appoint a trained plastic Surgeon and its faculty is still incomplete. The health department has also failed to approve the SNE of the Burns Centre sent to it over two years ago.
