KARACHI: Lyari General Hospital (LGH) Karachi administration has decided to establish Skin, Nephrology and Burns Departments in the hospital, while Radiology Department would also be upgraded soon, sources at LGH told PPI on Monday.
An administrative officer of Lyari General Hospital on condition of anonymity said hospital administration had decided to establish such departments.
He said it was also decided to upgrade outdated machinery of radiology department in the hospital as various diagnostic machines were not producing better results.
He said summery had been sent to provincial health department for establishment of new departments in hospital and development work would be started after its approval. He informed that although doctors and other staff are available to run skin, nephrology and burns departments but due to lack of wards and other facilities of these department could not be opened yet.
He said in view of the rising cases of skin, nephrology and burns injuries in the area, there was urgent need of proper departments to cater to the patients’ need at local level.
Source said patients with skin, nephrology and burns were being referred to other public and private sector hospitals due to lack of the required facility in the hospital. He said over 3,000 patients visit the hospital OPDs on daily basis.
Medical Superintendent, Lyari General Hospital, Dr Aziz Soomro, was reached over phone but he refused to give respond.
