Thyroid surgery training kicks off in JPMC

KARACHI: Secretary Health Sindh Iftikhar Ahmed Shalwani on Monday formally inaugurated the thyroid surgery training for doctors at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC).

Deputy Director Admin & Focal Person JPMC Dr Jawaid Jamali said three-member Korean doctors’ team has arrived in Karachi to train doctors associated with JPMC, Civil Hospital Karachi and other doctors from interior Sindh about thyroid surgery under a Surgical Education Week.

Around 60 doctors from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Civil Hospital and from different parts of interior Sindh are participating in the training. He informed that Assistant Prof JPMC Dr Naseem Baloch had recently completed training from Korea and he invited Korean doctors to train the healthcare practitioners in Sindh province.

He said a three-member Korean expert team arrived in Karachi to train doctors, and hoped that training will boost the capacity of doctors in the province.

Later, Secretary Health Sindh Iftikhar Ahmed Shalwani visited the various departments of JPMC.

The JPMC administration requested the secretary health to release fund for renovation of hospital departments and also for construction of over-head water tanks.

Secretary Health assured that the funds will be released soon in this regard.
