Traders need to introduce their products in world markets

KARACHI: International Trade Centre of Houston’s President Syed Wasim Akhtar said on Tuesday that Pakistan possesses a high value in international market for its quality and refinished products it exports, but lack of introducing products affects its export process at international level.

Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club, he said there is dire need to inform and educate such persons or small traders willing to start or enhance their exports. He said Pakistan is very much capable of generating different kinds of products. He said in international markets, the products of textile, designed clothes, kitchen wears, furniture, leather and textile bags, fashion and jewellery, food, sweets and bakery items have high value.

He said unfortunately, Pakistan has no any platform to introduce local traders in international markets. He said: “We should guide and educate small traders so as to provide awareness to them about the international trade system as people fail to introduce their handicrafts.” He said Pakistani handicrafts are very much famous in the world besides sports items.

He said as compared to Pakistan, India is more capable to export its small products to international markets.

Akhtar announced that he with the help of his chamber, is planning to arrange “The Pakistan Show” in 2016 in Houston to introduce the Pakistani products which are well known in the world market.

He said in this regard, he had visited different Chambers of Commerces and Industries of Pakistan and met encouraged their authorities for facilitating traders and enhance export process.
