KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said Dawood Chowrangi would be made facilitative for the industrial area and citizens in cooperation with Landhi Association of Trade and Industry (LATI) and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).
“Keeping in view the movement of heavy traffic, turning issues and traffic jam, improvement would be brought for easy flow of traffic through improving signalization and intersection around Dawood Chowrangi,” he said while addressing a meeting at his office with President LATI Hussain Qulli Khan, former president LATI Z Basheer Khan, Secretary LATI Mubeen Khan, Senior Vice President LATI Islamuddin, Director General Technical Services KMC Niaz Ahmed Soomro, Chief Engineer KMC Ibrahim Baloch and DSP Traffic Malir Muhammed Hussain were also present on the occasion.
The commissioner said it was welcoming act that government organizations, corporate sector and business community had shown interest in jointly working for a project.
He said that alternative routes should be paid attention and improved keeping in view the increasing pressure of traffic on main roads. Awareness in this regard should be spread among masses so that the issue of traffic jam and other related issues could be controlled.
“Dawood Chowrangi is an important roundabout to connect an important industrial area to National Highway. Improvement of signalization and intersection is necessary to minimize traffic pressure,” said Siddiqui.
Qulli Khan said that business community was with the government for the betterment of city and industrial areas. He ensured any kind of cooperation from business community with the government.
It was decided in the meeting that, keeping in view the importance of Dawood Chowrangi, signals with new design would be installed and road would also be stretched by removing encroachment alongside.
Design of proposed intersection was ready which would be completed in two phases with road lighting, the meeting was told.
Reconstruction of nullah and removal of encroachment along the roundabout was also reviewed in the meeting.
