Jamshoro, Sindh: A two day training workshop on the data acquisition and interpretation got underway at Centre for Pure & Applied Geology, (CPAG) Sindh University (SU) Jamshoro wherein a renowned scientist belonging to Kuwait Oil Company KUFPEC Anwar Ali is providing training to the scholars & students as resource person.
The training seminar was inaugurated by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abida Taherani. Among others the director of centre & PVC Thatta Campus Prof. Dr. Sarfraz Hussain Solangi, Prof. Dr. Naeem Tariq Narejo and Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasool Abbasi, PVCs, Deans, scholars and students.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Taherani stressed the need to apply modern techniques in the field of geology, saying that the country is facing with the energy shortage under these circumstances the youths can play a vital role to help resolve it by exploring new oil and gas resources once they are graduated from the University of Sindh and other varsities.
She said that it was the responsibility of the youths to make Pakistan self-sufficient in energy point of view after seeking related education and trainings.
Dr. Taherani advised the students of geology to work hard during their study so as to get lucrative jobs and take benefits from the opportunities available in the field of oil & gas.
She termed the two day training workshop as beneficial for the students of geology and vowed to extend her full support as well as cooperation to conduct such workshops & seminars in future as well.
On the occasion, the director of CPAG Prof. Dr. Sarfraz Hussain Solangi introduced the speaker as well as training course. He also highlighted the importance of the latest software named PETREL prepared by the Kuwait scientist Anwar Ali which is used in the oil industry throughout the world.
He thanked Anwar Ali for coming to SU as resource person as voluntarily.
