Tree plantation campaign launched

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui has said that tree plantation campaign initiated by the city administration in collaboration with National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) and forest department, Government of Sindh, will help make city green and clean.

He was speaking at a launching ceremony of tree plantation campaign of Bohra Community at Yousfi Mosque, Shabbirabad. He said participation of Bohra Community, NGOs and citizens would be a great support from them to make the tree plantation campaign a successful endeavor.

He hoped that other communities would also support this campaign. He urged citizens to plant at least one sapling as a gift for the city. Three lacs saplings would be planted during the campaign. He assured  to solve  all civic issues  facing  residents of Shabbirabad.

Shaikh Hussain Bhai and Coordinator for Burhani Foundation Hasnain Kothari, Director Local Government Robina Asif and NFEH chief Naeem Qureshi also spoke on the occasion.

Qureshi lauded efforts of commissioner Karachi and his team in resolving civic issues. He urged all major communities to join this campaign to make our city clean and green.

Hasnain Kothani said that the Bohra Community would support the city administration in the campaign to make the city clean and green. On this occasion two focal groups were formed. One focal group would work for the solutions of the civic problems related to sewerage, water supply and dilapidated conditions of the road.

The other focal group was formed for the tree plantation campaign. Both groups were asked by the commissioner to monitor the efforts to be done by the groups and report him about the progress time to time. Later on the Commissioner Karachi inaugurated the campaign by planting sapling.
