Two killed as militants attack Jiwani airport

GWADAR: Two engineers were killed when militants attacked Jiwani airport, about 50 Km from Gwadar Sunday. Jiwani is Pakistan’s last coastal town close to Pak-Iran border near Chah Bahar port of Iran.

According to details about six miscreants riding motorcycles attacked Jiwani airport early this morning, and opened fire in which electronics superintendent Khalilullah was killed. Electronic Supervisor Altaf Hussain was injured. He was shifted to Karachi for treatment. Terrorists also set on fire radar system of civil aviation at the airport which was almost destroyed completely.

While fleeing terrorists kidnapped electronics engineer Mahmudullah Niazi whose bullet-riddled body was later found from a nearby area.

Sources said that due to damage of communication system at the Jiwani airport flight schedule would not affect as there also exists backup system. It was told that this airport was non functional for quite some time.

Police and law enforcement agencies men reached the site and started investigation.

Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch while strongly condemning the attack expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives.

He called a report from Commissioner Mekran Davison and directed action should be taken against elements involved in the attack.
