UBL 7th Independence Day Cup Open Golf Championship 2015 begins

Karachi: UBL 7th Independence Day Cup Open Golf Championship 2015 begins at the greens of Defence Authority Country & Golf Club DHA Ph-VIII on Thursday, 20th August’ 2015.

Rs. 2 million prize coveted tournament is being held from 20th to 23rd August’ 2015 in which a large number of golfers from all over the country are participating. The tournament is open to all Associations/Golf Clubs affiliated with Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF). Professionals registered with PGF, senior professionals of age 55 years & above, juniors (under 17), masters (under 14), veterans and a large number of ladies are also participating in the tournament.

A total of 300 plus golfers are expected to participate in the tournament which also include 100 professionals from all over the country. 200 golfers will participate in the main match. The national golfers Shabbir Iqbal, Matloob and Muneer who have participated in South Asian circuit are also playing the tournament.

The main match being played will be of stroke play over 54 holes (18 holes everyday). However the cut will take place after 36 holes for professionals and for amateurs it will be decided on number of entries.

Prizes of the overall total prize money for the tournament is Rs. 2 million, out of which Rs. 1800,000/- will be given to the professionals while the senior professionals will be given prizes of Rs. 200,000/-. In addition, for ‘Hole in One’ Daihatsu Terios is sponsored by Toyota central motors Karachi.

The prize distribution ceremony will be held on 23rd August 2015 at Defence Authority Country & Golf Club.
