UC’s secretaries seeking promotion: SHC issues notices to respondents

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday issued notices to secretary local government, secretary Service & General Administration and secretary Sindh local government board to file their comments on a petition seeking promotion in Sindh local government department.

Mohammad Ali Mithal, Jan Mohammad and other 14 secretaries of different union councils of Sindh had taken the relevant authorities to the court and sought their promotions.

The petitioners submitted that they were employees of Sindh local government department and serving as secretaries in Sindh’s different union councils. They submitted that they are serving the department and deserve due promotion in their ranks.

The petitioners stated that they were not granted a single upgrade despite recommendations made in 2006. “Not promoting them after such services is the violation of articles 4, 25, 37 and 38 of the Pakistan’s constitution”, they submitted. The petitioners pleaded to the court to declare that they are entitled of promotion.

The court in its first instance issued notices to respondent to file their comments.
