Updated: Five killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Five people were killed and six others injured in separate incidents of violence in the city on Wednesday.

Yasir, 35, son of Mustafa, and Haroon, 30, son of Rasheed, were killed when unknown armed motorcyclists opened fire on them at Kalapul. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.

SSP Faisal Bashir Memon said Yasir and Haroon were standing along a road at Kalapul when unknown armed men opened fire on them. He said that police patrolling there also returned fire on attackers in which one of the accused was injured but they managed to flee.

The beheaded body of an unidentified woman, aged 25, was found in a flat in Sohrab Goth. The body was stated to be a month-old. It was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for postmortem examination.

An unidentified man, aged 30, was killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on him near Purana Truck Adda in Mauripur. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.

Kamran Shah, 36, son of Mian Bux, was killed when unidentified armed men opened fire on him near area graveyard in Bilal Colony, Korangi. The body was shifted to JPMC for an autopsy.

A man, Allah Rakha, 40, son of Yousuf Junejo, was seriously injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him near Junejo Jamaat Khana in Sector 11-G, North Karachi. The injured was shifted to CHK for treatment.

In an incident of robbery, a man, Afaq Ahmed, 35, son of Ishaq Ahmed, was injured while offering resistance near Gora Qabristan along Shahrah-e-Faisal. The injured was shifted to JPMC for treatment.

A man, Altaf, 25, son of Yameen, resident of Buffer Zone, was injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on him in Sec 15-B, Buffer Zone. The injured was shifted to ASH for treatment.

A teenage boy, Babar, 18, son of Shahjahan Muhammad, was injured in firing by unidentified gunmen near Dr Ziauddin Hospital in Shireen Jinnah Colony, Clifton. He was shifted to JPMC for treatment.

A 30-year-old man, Iqbal, resident of North Karachi, was injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him near Ausaf Training in Sector 5-G, North Karachi. The injured was shifted to ASH for treatment.

Separately, a man, Zahid, 22, son of Wali, was injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him in Saifi Lane area, Lyari. The injured was taken to CHK for treatment.
