Uphold of law key to success of nations: Fowzia

Karachi: The key behind the success of any nation is the obedience of law in that society. Corrupt rulers of Pakistan are a bigger impediment in release of Aafia than Americans, said Aafia Movement convener Dr Fowzia Siddiqui, addressing a Caravan e Ghairat Aafia release rally in Korangi here.

She said personal agenda of any rulers could not become the national agenda in the countries with rule of law. She said Dr Aafia Siddiqui is the victim of the personal agenda of Dictator General Musharraf. She said fulfilling the promises of the father of the nation, Quaid e Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, regarding a complete protection and freedom to Pakistanis is the constitutional responsibility of the civil and military leadership of Pakistan. She said the agenda of the division of subcontinent would remain unfinished till every Pakistani citizen is fully protected.

She said they have been demanding the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui because she is innocent. She said this is also a joint demand of this whole nation. If the rulers would play their part in the release of Aafia it would not be their personal favor but rather they would discharge their constitutional responsibility. She said the present civil and military leadership should have to think that when Aafia was handed over to Americans along with her three children, had the authorities properly investigated that this lady and her children had really committed any crime?

She said the false allegation under which a sham court gave 86-year imprisonment to Aafia was quietly different from the allegation that was leveled against Aafia when she had been trafficked along with her children. She said Aafia was sentenced for 86 years without proving the charges on her and without giving Aafia the right to defend herself in court.

Dr Fowzia said 12 years ago in the era of Dictator General Musharraf a criminal mistake was committed by handing over innocent Aafia and her three children to American without any investigation. She said later many opportunities came to correct this mistake and get Aafia released but the successive Pakistani rulers simply failed to discharge their constitutional, legal, moral and religious responsibilities on such occasions. She announced that Caravan e Ghairat rallies would be staged in different parts of the country till the release of Dr Aafia, and end of lawlessness in Pakistan.

Pasban e Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor, addressing the rally, said to save their corruption money two corrupt political leaderships are engaged in a pre-fixed match to hoodwink Pakistani nation. He said the rulers are least concerned about the public issues as well as the release of the innocent daughter of the nation. The political leadership had held hostage the State on the basis of their corruption money. They feel to save their ill-gotten wealth is more important than safeguarding the rights of Pakistanis.

He said the corrupt ruling politicians of past are trying to save the present corrupt rulers on reciprocal basis. He said the corrupt junta of Pakistan is the biggest hurdle in early release of Aafia Siddiqui. He said the ruler better read what is written on the wall and take practical steps for release and repatriation of Dr Aafia.

Haji Rambel Khan, the leader of a delegation that came from Peshawar to take part in the rally, said Dr Fowzia is their sister and they invite the Caravan e Ghairat to visit the KpK province. He said they would launch a grassroots level campaign for the release of Aafia in their province.

Caravan e Ghairat Korangi organizer Sardar Zulfiqar said their struggle would continue till the release of Aafia Siddiqui. He demanded from the prime minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif to fulfill his promise about the release of Dr Aafia. He said Pakistanis want release of Aafia and her return back home would restore the national honor of this country.

Organizing committee members Zafar Iqbal, Mohammad Haneef Mio, Nasir Wali, Ishtiaque Shah, Imdad Hussein, Mushtaq Ahmed Malook, Fareed Khattak, Qamar Bhai and others were present.
