Victimisation of Punjab peasants unacceptable: Ghani

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) leader in the Senate of Pakistan, Senator Saeed Ghani while vehemently condemning the police baton-charge on peasants and their arrest in Lahore termed the Police’s action uncalled for and an open serious violation of the human rights.

He said Punjab government was inflicting tyranny and anguish on the innocent peasants by refusing to realize their demands for their rights were just and as per law. Such an inhuman treatment on the peasants and plain denial did not suit an elected democratic provincial government of Punjab.

Senator Ghani reminded that the manhandling of the peasants in Punjab was now a new case as Punjab Police had in past been quite aggressive and violent on doctors, nurses, lawyers, blind and handicapped people and teachers.

He warned Punjab government of devastation that might be looming around after manhandling of the peasants as they were the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and served the country and the nation in all conditions and during all extremes of four seasons.

Ghani demanded of the Punjab government to accept all demands of the peasants and release all those arrested.

He also demanded the Punjab government to immediately initiate stern action against Police involved in manhandling of the peasants.
