Larkana, Sindh: The Maternity Home established 20 years ago at village Chooharpur, near Larkana, has been non-functional since its inception, compelling the village women to visit Larkana for maternity-related medical issues.
Villagers said a lady doctor was posted at the maternity home, and after her retriment the building of Government Maternity Home is occupied by land grabbers. Villagers including Amir Ali, Hakim Ali, Shamshad & others further complained that several pregnant women have died while shifting them from the village to Shaikh Zaid Hospital for Women in Larkana during emergencies.
They said the district health authorities are doing nothing to make this maternity home functional. They appealed the Sindh health minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed to take notice of the matter and direct District Health Officer, Larkana, to make the Maternity Home functional immediately.
