Waheed Baloch clinches National Professional Golf Tourney

Karachi: Waheed Baloch of Karachi won final round of Bank Al Habib’s 5th Rashid D. Habib National Professional Golf Tournament with 207 gross nine under-par.

He played well from the beginning and maintained his superiority from day one over the 93 players who participated. He has been presented Rs. 461,100 as prize money.

Islamabad’s Mohammad Nazir claimed second position with 208 gross 8 under-par and his prize money was Rs. 310,200. He is followed by Mohammad Naqas (209 Gross 7 under-par) and Ansar Mehmood (210 Gross 6 under-par) and their prize money paid to them is Rs. 192,900 and 159,600 respectively.

Bank Al Habib offered prize money of Rs. 5 million under various categories for the tournament. A new Toyota car was kept for the golfer who would achieve hole-in-one feat. However, the most coveted prize he tournament offered remained unclaimed this year as well.

Bank Al Habib’s Managing Director Abbas D. Habib along with chief guest Vice Admiral Khan Hasham Bin Saddique (Hilal-e-Imtiaz Military) presented the prize money and trophies to the winning golfers.

Another bright aspect of this tournament is appearance money of Rs. 500,000 which is equally distributed to five top golfers of Pakistan. This year Rs. 100,000 each were paid to Mohammad Munir, Shabbir Iqbal, Matloob Ahmed and Shahid Javed. Hamza Amin is out of country touring Asian Professional Golf Association.

In other categories of this tournament, Akhtar Ali and Shehzad Yousif took first and second position in KCG Caddies. Shafaq Khan was first followed by Iqbal Masih in KGC Professionals. Nathoo Khan and Khan Mohammad of KGC veteran professionals stood first and second respectively. Dilshad topped in young professionals category, followed by Nasir Masih. The top three positions in senior professionals were claimed by Imdad Hussain, M Akram and Manzoor.

The chief guest Vice Admiral Khan Hasham Bin Saddique (Hilal-e-Imtiaz Military) congratulated winning golfers. He appreciated the virtuous excellence and organization being maintained by Karachi Golf Club. Vice Admiral praised Bank Al Habib’s continuous support to Golf and thanked Bank’s Managing Director Abbas D. Habib. He asked organisations to employing golfers like Bank Al Habib as it will highlight the talent hidden inside Pakistani golfers.
