Water shortage to be met soon: Commissioner

KARACHI: Commissioner of Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, took notice on acute water shortage in the city on Wednesday.

Siddiqui was presiding over a meeting of Divisional Coordination Committee where he emphasized to Karachi water and sewerage board that shortage of water in the city would be resolved on priority.

He said that KWSB had been informed about the water problem through a letter, which said with the change in weather the complaints of water shortage are increasing.

However, the meeting assessed the situation of roads, sewerage and sanitary conditions of industrial areas and decided that committees would be formed with the help of industrial associations to resolve these issues.

Electricity load shedding problems in water pumping stations were also discussed. Representative of K-Electric said that water pumping stations are exempt from electricity load shedding. He assured the meeting that pumping stations would not be interrupted with load shedding.

The meeting showed satisfaction in sanitary conditions in the city. Efforts against wall chalking would be continued, and potholes on roads to filled soon to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
