Week-long training on transport policy ends

KARACHI: Weeklong articulated training course for police officers, transporters officials, transporters, traffic police and road users of various modes of public service transport has concluded at NED University Karachi.

The course was held to train participants and to impart the aims and objectives of PAKSTRAN project to the relevant stakeholders and to discuss safety and security of transportation and educational institutes with regard to Sindh Urban Transport Policy.

The last day of one week articulated training program was unique and exceptional in the sense that CIU-Sindh had arranged the lecture of President Board of Directors of the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) and world renowned expert on Bus Rapid Transit system Enrique Penalosa and a presentation of Dr Nasir Javed of Urban Unit Lahore, which proved to be much engaging and fruitful for the participants.

One week articulated training for Pakistan Sustainable Transport Project (PAKSTRAN) is organized by Component Implementation Unit (CIU) Sindh from 24th March to 27th March 2015 at Main Auditorium Hall, NED University Karachi. CIU is the implementing partner for PAKSTRAN project in the province of Sindh.

The event was followed by a certificate distribution ceremony to the participants. Enrique Penalosa was presented the symbol of culture of Sindh ‘the Ajrak’ and shield by Component Manager CIU-Sindh Yar Muhammed.
