Woman killed for not bringing dowry

SIALKOT: A married woman Aneeba Shehzadi (26) was allegedly poisoned to death by her husband Asad Ullah and her in laws as punishment for not bringing their desired dowry at village Behaaripur-Motra, Daska tehsil here Thursday.

As per police sources, victim belonged to a poor family due to which her husband and in laws used to beat her physically. Her father Allah Ditta , a labourer, told the police that accused Asad Ullah and his other family members forcibly poured poison into her throat after quarreling with her as punishment for not bringing they desired dowry after her marriage. He said that the neighbours took the victim to Daska Civil Hospital where she passed away due to her critical condition. The local doctors said that she died of a lethal poison.

Police said that the accused Asad Ullah and his family fled away after locking their houses in the village after this tragic incident. Police have shifted the dead body to Daska Civil Hospital for autopsy. Motra police have registered a case with no arrest, in this regard.
