ISLAMABAD: The Women Parliamentarians Caucus (WPC) has taken a new initiative by conducting the workshop on Women Policing in Pakistan, said National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq here on Thursday.
He said this workshop will bring awareness among the policy makers and stake holders to improve the work environment and would advise the government to introduce relevant policies.
“We at the National assembly are very pleased to host this workshop which is an important discussion on the role of women police in enforcing law and order”, he said while chairing the concluding session of the Workshop.
Speaking on less representation of women in police, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that since we are a primitive and conservative society so generally families do not send their daughters in police. It is important to motivate educated girls to join this service to improve its image and to reach out to average Pakistani woman who has vital role to play in family and nation building.
He expressed hope that there will be more women joining police which would help improving overall law and order situation in the country. While acknowledging the role of Women Parliamentarians in legislative process, the Speaker said that they have significantly contributed towards the legislation carried out by the parliament in recent years specially pro-women laws were enacted by their hard work. He said that they would continue their endeavours and propose new legislation to make Women Policing more effective.
