ISLAMABAD: A four-day international workshop on Primary and Secondary Sources of Prophet’s (PBUH) Seerah organized by International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) concluded here at its Faisal Masjid campus on Thursday.
The workshop was addressed by Prof Dr Yasin Mazhar Siddiqi of Ali Garh Muslim University, India who is well known Islamic researcher and Seerah author.
The workshop was jointly organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) and Dawah Academy of the university. The concluding ceremony of the workshop was presided over by President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh.
“Muslim youth must be nurtured in the light of Islamic teachings” said Dr Siddiqi. He was of the view that young minds must be introduced with Seerah of Prophet (PBUH) which will lead them to eschew negative attitudes. He said that religious education is being ignored by Muslim parents which is unfortunate.
Dr Al-Draiweesh called upon the Muslim scholars to work for unity among the Muslims. He said violence must be discouraged as it contradicts teachings of Islam. He was of the view that Quran and Sunnah are the main source of Ummah’s unity. Earlier, Dr. Sohail Hassan Director Dawah Academy briefed the ceremony about the details and objectives of the workshop.
The ceremony was also attended by Director Programs IRD Dr. Talib Hussain Sial and other IIUI officials.
