Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Monday said commissioner office would organize special walk and arrange ceremony for blinds in connection with the World White Cane Safety Day.
He expressed these views during a meeting with the delegation of Pakistan Association of the Blind (PAB) at Commissioner Office here. President PAB Mubarak Shah, General Secretary Saleem Qasim, Hafiz Naseemuddin, Qari Mohammad Idress Khan, Jabbar Ahmed Khan, Additional Commissioner Karachi-1 Mohammad Aslam Khoso, Hajji Ahmed and others.
The delegation of PBA informed the commissioner Karachi that association were striving for respectable place for blinds in society since long and around 22 blinds had got job under training or settlement program of PBA beside the provision of academic syllabus to them. They further informed that developing the syllabus in CDs was underway from primary level to higher education for blinds.
Siddiqui assured the delegation of his full support and said that every possible step would be taken to create awareness among drivers, conductors, police, traffic police, pedestrians, railway, PIA employees and taxi or auto-rickshaw drivers about the day as the blinds would walk freely.
