Zamindars block highways in Balochistan

QUETTA: Zamindars staged dharna along national highways in Balochistan Thursday on the call of Zamindar Action Committee to protest suspension of electricity and blocked them.

According to details zamindars staged sit in along national highways in Balochistan at Lak Pass , Kuchlak, Kharan, Noshki, Taftan, Dalbandin, Kalat, Bolan, Sibi, Dera Murad Jamali and blocked them for traffic. As a result thousands of vehicles stranded along the national highways.

Zamindars chanted slogans against QESCO. They were of the view that owing to excesses of QESCO Zamindars economic murder was taking place despite the fact government demand of bills were paid.

They warned if government did not mend its attitude, responsibility of protest to be staged again would rest with the government.

Spokesman Zamindar Action Committee Bahadur Khan Mashwani said that Minister of state for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali was told during a meeting that zamindars can be asked for payment of bills after supply of electricity form Dadu-Khuzdar and D G Khan-Loralai Transmission lines. Soon after his arrival in Islamabad, Minister of State stopped supply of electricity.

He said during our protest complete wheel jam was observed from 8 am till 5 pm. However ambulances were exempted from this wheel jam.
