Zardari calls for living and striving for a cause

KARACHI: PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari said on Thursday that on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, he wish to felicitate the Muslims throughout the world and particularly those in Pakistan.

In a statement, he said that the celebrations of Eid are a commemoration of the supreme sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim (May Allah be pleased with him) as well as an occasion for the Muslims to re-affirm unity of action in an imperishable bond of brotherhood.

“Eid-ul-Azha symbolises the willingness to sacrifice for a cause. Let us on this day pledge to live and strive for a cause larger than one’s own self.”

Zardari said: “On the festive occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, I call upon my countrymen to also remember those who have laid down their lives so that we can live to celebrate this Eid. They have done us proud.”

He said: “Let us also spare a thought to those of our brethren who are less fortunate and who suffer, endure and are deprived of true joy. We must share our joy and bounties with those who are not so fortunate. May the blessings of Eid ul Azha remain with you all.”
