KARACHI: Co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party and former President Asif Ali Zardari has directed the party cadres to prepare for party-based local government elections to strengthen the democracy at the grass-root level.
He presided over a meeting attended by elected Representatives and office-bearers of Pakistan Peoples Party from Hyderabad and Matiari Districts at Bilawal House today. Ms Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari was also present on the occasion.
Zardari stressed for gearing up development works including farm-to-market roads to provide facilities to the common man. The PPP Co-Chairman directed Party office bearers to start public campaign and said that PPP will soon hold public gatherings throughout the country in this regard.
Former President further said that there is a strong bond between PPP and people of Pakistan. The PPP and masses have not left each other in their difficult times and this relationship will last forever like past.
He noted with satisfaction that following the decision by Lahore High Court for holding lLocal bodies elections on party-basis similar elections will be held all over the country.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, MNA Faryal Talpur, Sherry Rehman, Ministers Sharjeel Memon, Jam Khan Shoro, Makhdoom Jamiluz Zaman, Makhdoom Rafiquz Zaman and others also attended the meeting.
