Ziauddin University mourns Charsadda tragedy

KARACHI: Ziauddin University observed the mourn Day and organized a condolence and condemnation meeting against the terrorist attack on the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda and paid tribute to the innocent martyrs of the incident.

“The cowardly attack on the Bacha Khan University and brutal killing of students are the worst incident of terrorism. Charsadda tragedy is an attack on Pakistan, an attack on education, and an attack on our future”, Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, Vice Chancellor of Ziauddin University, said at the condolence meeting.

He strongly condemned the barbaric killing of innocent students and other staff and asked all to stand united against such acts of terrorism. “This is another dark day in the history of Pakistan”, Prof Pirzada Qasim said.

Speaking to students, the Vice Chancellor said it is time the whole nation gather on a single platform to eliminate the menace of terrorism, otherwise terrorism would eliminate the nation.

“There was no time to do politics, we should wake up now and show unity to effectively face the challenge of terrorism and extremism,” Prof Pirzada Qasim said. The participants offered fateha and prayed for the bereaved families. During the condolence meeting, the university’s academic and other activities were suspended. A large number of students, faculty members, doctors and other support staff of the university attended the meeting to pay tribute to the innocent martyrs.
