Peshawar: Commandant Frontier Constabulary escaped while at least 10 people were killed in 29 other injured when a suicide bomber attacked the convoy of FC Commandant near a security check post at FakhareAlam Road in Saddar area of Peshawar on Friday.
According to Bomb Disposal Unit around 10 KG explosives were used in the blast. Police said FC commandant Abdul Majeed Marwat was target of the suicider however he escaped in the attack while his vehicle was damaged in the blast that also destroyed two rickshaws. two female were among the six dead bodies brought to Lady Reading Hospital whereas four dead bodies were brought to LRH.
Among the injured condition of four is stated be serious. more than 15 injured were brought to Lady Reading Hospital whereas the remaining were shifted to Combined Military Hospital Peshawar as the blast occurred near to CMH.
The injured included three paramilitary personnel.
A security official said Abdul Majeed Marwat, commander of the paramilitary Frontier Constabulary for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was slightly injured and taken to a military hospital.
Witnesses said the suicide bomber was on foot and blew himself up when the convoy of the FC chief stopped at a military check post in the busy cantonment area of Peshawar. there were human body parts and blood spread over the area when we reached for rescue and relief work, said a volunteer of AlKhidmat Foundation.
A pair of legs, presumed to be that of the bomber, were recovered from the blast site. the security forces and police soon after the blast cordoned off the area and shifted the injured to hospital. security at other adjacent areas was tightened following the blast. All road the blast site were closed down however after two hours road were cleared for the traffic.
