SHAHDADKOT: Ten-party alliance has failed to bring its consensus candidate on PS40 Qambar-Shahdadkot, leaving a chance for Pakistan People’s Party PPP to win the polls at this constituency.
Pakistan Muslim League-Functional PMLF, PML-Nawaz PMLN, Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party STPP, which are the component parties of the alliance, have decided to field their own candidates with their separate election symbols at this provincial constituency.
However, only Sindh United Party SUP candidate Hamal Khushuk has withdrawn his candidature for general elections at this important seat in favour of PMLN aspirant Mir Ghaibi Khan Mugheri.
Earlier, there was much talk about fielding of the 10party consensus candidate which could not be realized by the component parties. The 10 party alliance was formed against PPP and MQM in order to reach seat adjustment for general elections across Sindh.
It comprises PPP, PMLN, PMLF, STPP, Jamaat-i-Islami, Sunni Tehreek, SUP, Qaumi Awami Tehreek, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan and National People’s Party.
In last general elections, this seat had been won by Mir Nadir Ali Magsi of PPP by securing 32,515 votes against PML candidate Mir Abdul Waheed Brohi who secured 3,214 votes and stood second number, while PMLN candidate Abdul Wahab had got only 101 votes but this time, the nomination forms of Nadir Magsi has been rejected and PPP has fielded another covering candidate on this seat.
It is reported that PPP has a large number of vote bank in Shahdadkot, while PMLF has also sufficient voters in this area.
