12 killed in Karachi violence spree

Karachi: At least 12 people including two religious leaders were killed in different incidents of violence in Karachi on Thursday, while two persons died in road accidents.

Police and rescue sources said armed men riding on a motorcycle opened fire on a vehicle bearing registration number CG-7956 on Shahrah e Faisal near Nursery Flyover in the limit of Tipu Sultan Police Station.

Three people including seminary teacher of Madrasa Jamia Farooqia Shah Faisal Colony, 50-years-old Mufti Abdul Majeed Dinpuri, 40-years-old Mufti Muhammad Saleh and their 33-years-driver years old Hassan Ali Shah died on spot.

The rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem.

However, tension gripped in the city after spread of news of incident. Some miscreants resorted to aerial firing in different areas of city including Shah Faisal Colony, Gurumandir, Lasbela, Nagan Chowrangi and other parts of the city.

40-years-old Haroon S/o Ilyas and 45-year Seth Raza s/o Palari was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Taiser Town in the limit of Surjani Town Police Station. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for Autopsy.

Police said both bodies were found from Yaro Goth, Northern Bypass area early morning, adding the both persons had been missing from Balochistan. They suspected that the accused had killed both somewhere else and threw their bodies in Surjani area.

Separately, three gunny bag packed bodies were found from Haq Bahu Chowk, Qaimkhani Colony, Baldia Town in remit of Moachko Police Station. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital (CHK) for postmortem.

Medical Legal Officer said the victims were first brutally tortured and later killed with shooting in heads.

Police said that unidentified people threw the bodies from a car and fled. The victims were later identified as 40-years-old Amjad, 30-years-old Jamal and 28-years-old Irfan. There were friends and kidnapped from Orangi Town area last night. Police registered FIR 29/2013 under Section 302 and 34 against unidentified persons.

Similarly, the body of a man, aged around 31, was found near Askari Park, Gulshan e Iqbal Town in the limit of PIB Police Station. The body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.

Police said victim received two bullets on his upper torso. The body was later moved to Edhi Morgue for identity.

Moreover, the body of 28-years-old Nawaz Ali S/o Liaquat Ali, resident of Chakiwara, was found from Pak Colony area in the precinct of Pak Colony police station. It was taken to Civil Hospital Karachi for postmortem.

Police said victim had four bullets holes in his head and the body was found early in morning. The police registered FIR 28/2013 under section 302 and 34 on the behalf of family member against unidentified persons.

Meanwhile, a 30-years-old man, whose identity could not be ascertained, was killed in firing in Metroville SITE area in the limit of SITE-A police station. The body was taken to CHK for legal formalities. Police said the victim received three bullets and died before he could be taken to hospital.

35-year Inam Ali Junejo S/o Amanullah Junejo was gunned down at Bhains Colony area in the limit of Sukhan Police Station. The body was moved to JPMC for autopsy. The police suspected personal enmity behind the killing, saying further investigation was under way.

24-years-old Danish S/o Younis was killed resisting a robbery bid near Habib Ground in Landhi Town in the jurisdiction of Landhi Police Station. The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities. Police said victim received one bullet and he died before he could be taken to hospital.

24-years Zamir Ahmed s/o Muhammad Panha was killed in road mishap as truck hit with electric pole near Awami Hotel Sher Shah in the remit of Sher Shah Police Station. The body of deceased moved to CHK for autopsy.

Police Said victim was standing near electric pole when truck hit the pole and he was wounded in incident and rushed to hospital where he succumbed to their injuries.
