14 more dengue fever cases reported in Karachi

KARACHI: Fourteen more dengue viral fever cases were reported in Karachi on Tuesday, said Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh.

Focal Person for Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick said a total of 319 dengue fever cases have been reported in Sindh province since January 2013, out of which 309 in Karachi and 10 in rest of Sindh province.

He said two dengue patients were expired in Karachi this year, while 19 dengue patients were still admitted to different hospitals of the city and 14 new cases were also reported in Karachi from 24 to 25 June. They were admitted to different hospitals, he added.

However, nine dengue patients were also discharged from hospitals after treatment. Dengue fever is an acute febrile infection characterized by sudden onset of fever, intense headache, muscle pain, joint pain, eye pain, anorexia, and gastrointestinal disturbances.
