Islamabad: The 29th martyrdom anniversary of a prominent Kashmiri leader Muhammad Maqbool Butt Shaheed will be observed today Monday across the line of control with the renewed pledge to continue the liberation struggle till the mission is completed.
Muhammad Maqbool Butt was hanged in Tihar jail in New Delhi on this day in 1984 for his leading role in the Kashmir liberation struggle and was buried in the jail premises. Seminars‚ protest rallies and demonstrations will be held on Monday to mark the day.
On the other hand in the state capital Muzaffarabad a big protest rally will be held at Central Press Club against unjust hanging of Afzal Guru. The absentia funeral prayer of Muhammad Afzal Guru was offered in Muzaffarabad on Sunday. A large number of people belong to all shades of life had attended it. Earlier a condolence reference in this context was held in which speakers paid rich tributes to the heroic struggle of Muhammad Afzal Guru and said that sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not go waste.
