3days workshop on communication skills ended

Abbottabad: Communication skill plays vital role between the doctor and patient and it creates not only trust of patient on doctor but helps doctors to provide better treatment to his patient.

This was said by Professor Dr.Jehangir Khan, Regional Director of College of Physician & Surgeon Pakistan Abbottabad region while addressing as chief guest at the concluding ceremony of three days workshop on “Communication Skills “for Trainee Medical Officers held here at CPSP regional centre.

Dr.Syed Sheeraz Hussain Head of department of Orthodontics Karachi Medical and Dental College conducted the workshop which was attended by TMO’s from Peshawar and Abbottabad.

Regional Director of the CPSP Dr.Jehangir said that the basic aim to hold the event is to improve the skill of young doctors and every aspect has been covered during the workshop as CPSP actively engaged the doctors to enhance their clinical skill through the series of workshops

The CPSP workshop on communication covered the essential aspects of communicating with patients in various medical & dental clinical settings. The workshop comprised of model of communication, covering key areas such as information care, breaking bad news, counselling of patients, presentation skills.

It also covered academic aspects such as examination tips and tricks, stress management and handling high pressures of patients. The clinical management of stress, handling difficult patients who are angry, have low IQ; deaf or hard to hear were also covered.

The workshop was based on role play method of teaching where the participants, 27 in all were asked to act out different situations and give rationale of their management of the situation.

The cases and situations were then discussed among group members covering the strong and weak areas and how to improve on them. Dr.Sheeraz Hussain in three days workshops stressed upon the young doctors said that it is essential that medical & dental surgeons know the art of communication with their patients in order to ensure clear communication without ambiguity, and establishment of trust to better provide clinical care.

At the end certificate distribution ceremony were held Prof Jehangir Regional director CPSP Abbottabad and Dr Syed Sheeraz Hussain gave the certificate to the participants.
